WhatsApp's new privacy updates had made all people using WhatsApp to get panic. With these new privacy policies, your personal WhatsApp data can be used by Facebook and other Facebook-related third party companies. Personal data means you messages, images, recoding, videos and all the data you sent through WhatsApp. If you are not agreeing before 8th of February you will be banned from WhatsApp. This is a rude way to force people to do what they want.

After this issue, Elon Musk's (Wold's Richest Person) recent post suggests every people to use SIGNAL app which is an alternative app for WhatsApp.

Why Facebook and other companies want your personal data?

Facebook states that this is because they want to reduce the spammers in WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook by connecting their personal data with each account. But everything they tell can't be through because WhatsApp is an opensource app we don't know what they do with our data.

Also, our personal data can be used to show personalized ads according to our preferences on Facebook and Instagram. For an example you are chatting with your friend about buying a smartphone within a certain price range in WhatsApp then you go to Facebook and inside Facebook, you will see advertisement related to the price range you discussed with your friend. This is one of the basic methods of how Facebook can use your data.

What is the bad thing about this?

As I mentioned above you really don't know how they use your data and what they say cannot be 100% true. If you don't have control of your data imagine what a person with your debit card, credit card, your weaknesses can do to you. They can mentally control your behaviour by analyzing your data. Some times they can sell your data. So we have to be somewhat careful in these new privacy rules.
